Cheer Athletes Send Thanks for Recent Spring Grant
Spring Grant provides safe practice space for Varsity through Youth Cheer athletes
Recently we heard from Varsity Cheerleading Coarch Mikyla Pruett.
She related how a 2022 DDEF Spring grant provided a safe practice space, helped grow their program, and saved time and money since they no longer need to rent mats. See her thank you note below.
“Thank you so much for your help with purchasing the cheerleading team's new mats.
We now have a safe practice space for all 4 levels of our program from the High School Varsity all the way through our David Douglas Youth Team! Your donation helped over 50 athletes last year from 5th-12th grade, and this year will help over 68 athletes from 3rd-12th grade. With the addition of the mats, we were able to accommodate a youth team for the fall, adding 14 3rd-5th grade students to our program.
In addition, we no longer have to rent mats from a local school in order to host our Scotsmen Rumble competition, saving us countless hours of planning, travel, loading and costs. We could not thank you enough for your help with our program!”
