2024 Spring Grants Awarded
At David Douglas School District, Spring brings flowers and David Douglas Educational Foundation Spring Grants!
Each spring, school district employees are invited to submit requests for DDEF-funded Spring Grants for the following school year. A Grant Committee reviews the requests and makes funding recommendations to the Foundation evaluating whether the requests are appropriate for the DDEF Spring Grant program or should be funded through other sources such as the regular school district budget, Multnomah Education Service District, or DDEF Special Grants.
This year’s Spring Grant awards were finalized at the April 2024 DDEF Board Meeting awarding approximately $3,791.03 in grants to teacher and district staff requests.
See below a description of the approved grants.
Grants awarded for the 2023-24 school year include:
Ron Russell Middle School (grades 6-8): This grant will provide 50 instrument tuners for the orchestra program to increase student independence and confidence.
David Douglas High School (grade 9-12): We awarded 3 separate grants to the high school.
The first grant is for the HOSA - Future Health Professional students to help them afford the annual State Leadership Conference in 2025.
The second grant is to support the Natural Resources program to help build a new waterway in the wildflower meadow courtyard.
The third grant is for the speech-language pathology program to purchase iPad related items that help students who have speech, language and communication challenges.
Alice Ott Middle School (grades 6-8): We also awarded an opportunity grant of $916 for the creation of a more mindful, inclusive and peaceful environment for their social emotional classroom. Having a safe space for students to de-escalate and refocus provides opportunities for increased student success.
